Musika Foresta Concert

Musika Foresta Concert

On 13 May 2017, Hutan Itu Indonesia held the Musika Foresta concert at Balai Sarbini, Semanggi, Jakarta to celebrate the wealth of Indonesia’s forests. At this event, Hutan Itu Indonesia, musicians and representatives from universities and communities declared their commitment to preserving the forests and proposed a National Forest Day.

The Musika Foresta concert was the culmination of the trip made by Glenn Fredly, Astrid Basjar, Achi Hardjakusumah and Alam Urbach to forests across Indonesia, where they stayed for several days to take inspiration from their surroundings. The artists were joined by performers Melanie Subono, 5 Romeo, Nina Tamam, Asido Manullang, Sandra Fay and The Weekend Rockstars, who wore elegant woven clothes dyed with natural colors from the forest. All the money from ticket sales went to protecting trees of over 15 years old that play important ecosystem roles in forests belonging to indigenous communities, and to village forests and tree nurseries.
